LAS CRUCES, N.M.(AP) Collin Dennis scored 21 points as North Texas erased a 21-point deficit to beat New Mexico State 75-72 Saturday night in a second round game of the Lou Henson Classic.
Dennis scored all his points in the second half for the Mean Green (5-1), which also got 15 points from freshman Josh White.
Justin Hawkins had 28 points and Fred Peete 24 for New Mexico State (3-6), which led by 21 with 14:20 remaining in the game.
North Texas pulled to within 54-45 with 11:40 left on a 13-2 run and then closed to 60-55 on Tristan Thompson's 3-pointer.
New Mexico State coach Marvin Menzies drew a technical foul while disputing a call and Thompson made the resulting free throw.
Dennis' jumper made it 60-58 and Thompson drove to the basket to tie the score at 62 with 6:11 left.
The lead see-sawed until White hit a 3-pointer and then made two free throws with 1:21 to play to put the Mean Green ahead 73-70.
He added two more foul shots with 11.4 seconds left to seal the victory.
