Cole AldrichThe Big 12 men's basketball season was already shaping up to be a exciting one with Kansas and Texas starting the season as consensus top three teams.

The ante jumped up some Monday when the Longhorns (5-0) made the leap from No.3 to No.2 just behind the first-place Jayhawks (5-0), marking the first time in league history that Big 12 teams are No.1 and No.2 in Top 25 polls.

The Longhorns made their move this week after former No.2 Michigan State faltered against Florida last week.
Kansas, which has been No.1 since the preseason polls were released, now has a stronger grip on the top spot in the polls. TheKansas Jayhawks received 63 of the possible 64 first place votes in this week's AP poll, with UT receiving the other. In the ESPN/USA Today poll, Kansas received 30 of the first-place votes while fifth-place Duke received the other first place vote by the coaches.

In more poll news, the Texas A&M Aggies made their first appearance in the Top 25 polls Monday after being Minnesota last week during the 76 Classic Tournament. The Aggies are No.19 in the AP and No. 22 in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
