Terp Fans Prank Duke Hotel Rooms

Maryland-Duke is not a rivalry to be taken lightly, even if Duke did wallop the Terps by 41 in Cameron earlier this season. Now that Maryland is firmly on the bubble (and climbing), though, the stakes are raised again. Which may explain why Maryland fans are going all out in their pre-game prep for Wednesday night's matchup.

"All out" here doesn't just mean "making funny chant sheets," either; the Terps have not only created Facebook groups dedicated to "Operation: Scheyerface 2.0" (via Joe Ovies) but they also spent the week prank-calling Duke's hotel room.

Yes, that's right -- someone figured out where the Blue Devils were staying, and for whatever reason, the hotel's operator freely connected Maryland fans to the rooms of Duke players and coaches. To wit, a poster on the message board Terpcenter claims to have had the following conversation with Greg Paulus:

"Hello, this is ****** with the Washington Times, sorry to bother you at this hour Mr. Paulus, but we are running a small piece tomorrow and I was hoping to take 2 minutes and ask you a question?"

Him: "Uhhh, sure"

"If you had to choose between Deron Washington, Danny Green, and Dwayne Collins, who's[sic] n*ts would you say tasted the best?"

Him: ...click.

While crude, that's also kind of amusing. Of course, so is this goal to get as many photos of Jon Scheyer's face up as possible.

This time, we need everyone to print out one black and white scheyerface (or more since I'm sure people will miss this) from the end of this description and taunt him. It doesn't matter which one, just pick one. If you are on the wall, I'm pretty sure shooting 2nd half free throws into a wall of Scheyerfaces would work to perfection. I can get quite a few, but not enough for every student and we can always go bigger. Larger signs and such are encouraged as well as the normal d00k signage. Feel free to use the wall for ideas, suggestions, etc.

Invite whoever, there needs to be some serious teamwork for this to work as well as possible.

See? That's creative. Please take note, Cameron Crazies. And next year, when Maryland comes back to Cameron, throw some anti-perspirant at Gary Williams. Or something more humorous than that. Point being, Maryland hates Duke and their fans are willing to go to almost any lengths to make grown men cry.

Not sure why Maryland fans hate Duke, but could it be back when Jason Williams and Shane Battier played and Maryland had a 10 point lead with 53 seconds left in the game and their fans were chanting overrated, that Duke came back and tied it up and sent the game into overtime and then won the game. Could it be that the Devils made the Maryland fans look like idiots???

See, you Twerp fans. Nothing you do changes the fact that your teams sucks. Your star player, let's see, what's his name? Oh yea, Gravey Vasaline could only score 10 points. Not only didn't he own Cameron, he doesn't even own the Twerps court. The fool fouled out. You just had to mess with Paulus and he dropped 8 points on your ass and had some assists. How about you fools just trying to field a good team instead of the pranks. You may, and I stress may get to play in the NIT.

It was a good game, and it looks like Gary may have them playing consecutive strong games....... the Terps played loads better than @ Cameron, and it was fun. I went to the Duke-MD in Durham, and it was a blast, but heck, anything @ Cameron is a blast. I'm from Iowa, and I would rather watch ACC basketball than Big Ten anything!

Yeah, Maryland students tend to go over the pale w/Duke, and have paid for it with public outings of their less tasteful behavior... such as, "I raped JJ's Sister" signs, throwing a bottle at Carlos Boozer's mother, and I don't think Mrs. K. attends games at College Park anymore because of abuse, but handfuls of stupid moves, I hope don't paint thousands. When UNC was down 5-8 years ago, it was those MD-Duke games that were the classics.

It is sad to think that people dislike Duke so much. Could it be because they are intelligent, when interviewed are very mature in their responses and are a great bunch of clean cut college guys? I am very disappointed in our local paper printing all the garbage and inmature remarks that their star player made in regards to the upcoming Wed. night game. Too bad he fouled out!!
