North Carolina remained one of the nation's hottest team heading into the conference home stretch last week, beating up on Duke and then squeaking by a dangerous Miami team. They now have a very minor speed bump in their quest to win the ACC regular-season championship with a rivalry game against N.C. State Wednesday. However, that hump may have gotten a touch bigger with the news that Tyler Hansbrough suffered a concussion during Sunday's game against the Hurricanes.
North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough suffered a slight concussion early in the second half of Sunday's win at Miami, coach Roy Williams said Monday night during his radio show. Now, there are some people who might say that Williams often exaggerates with his players' injury status. For example, on Sunday, Ty Lawson was "sick as a dog" en route to hitting the game winner. Perhaps he picked up this trait from Michael Jordan while working Dean Smith's bench, or perhaps Carolina is just really suffering from some freak woes this year.
His eight-point performance was "one of the worst games he's played all year," Williams said, until he took a charge in the final minutes to help secure the 69-65 victory.
If Hansbrough's concussion is serious, you have to think that it could greatly impede Carolina's march to an ACC title. On the other hand, there's a decent chance that, with the way Lawson is playing these days, combined with the Tar Heels' overall talent edge over the Wolfpack, Hansbrough may not play at full throttle tomorrow night.

It has gotten to the point where teams are allowed to foul Hansbrough much more than any other player. Part of it is because teams have learned that you have to knock him to the floor to stop him, but part of it is just too much leniency.
UNC fans are clamoring for the UNC - Duke game this year, which is in Chapel Hill and is Hansbrough's last game:

I AGREE, with jwoot above.I have watched basketball for the last 60 years on tv or at the game.Tyler either has to be knocked out, get a broken neck, jaw, or nose, with blood spilling everywhere for the so called REFS to call a foul. SOME ONE had better start seeing that the ABOVE doesn't happen before the YOUNG man is SERIOUSLY HURT.Respectfully.

Hansbrough needs to stop being a pansy. It seems like you just bump him and he falls down. He needs to learn how to play like a man instead of the crying baby he is. Any yes it is funny for someone with a concussion and who might not play, he played and scored 27 points. UNC always has excuses. Can't wait unti Tyler graduates and moves on. Tired of watching his pouty face on tv every time they play.
