Wake Rebounds Big Over Boston College

Wake Forest was on a very unexpected two-game losing streak heading into today's game against Boston College, following losses to Miami and Georgia Tech. The Eagles, meanwhile, were surprisingly all alone in third place in the league.

But a funny thing happened on the way to a tight battle of teams near the top of the ACC -- Wake drubbed Boston College 93-76.

The Demon Deacons were aided significantly by Jeff Teague's 22 first-half points, but were actually down by a point heading into halftime after the sophomore's best single half output. It was Tyrese Rice's inability to ever get going -- he shot just 7-of-17 and turned the ball over six times -- that really let the Deacs pull away.

Al Farouq-Aminu's career-high 26 points didn't hurt either, as Wake moved into a four-way tie for third place in the ACC, behind Duke and North Carolina, both at 7-2. It was a critical game for both teams; Wake desperately needed to rebound after two inexplicable losses (and three of their last four) while BC, after starting the ACC season 1-3, was looking to win their seventh straight conference game.

That didn't happen, of course, after the Deacs turned up the defense in the second half, and now the Eagles face Clemson and Duke in their next two games. Needless to say, three straight losses, a free-fall in the standings could be coming.
