Tonight "Psycho T," Tyler Hansbrough, etched his name into quite a prestigious record book. He is now the all-time leading scorer in the history of the illustrious North Carolina basketball program. A program which housed the likes of Micheal Jordan, Vince Carter, Walter Davis, and James Worthy now sees the 6'9" star senior sitting atop the list when it comes to career points. Hansbrough surpassed Phil Ford tonight with 7:41 left in the first half during a blowout victory over Evansville.
He entered the season 11th on the all-time list, but has surpassed each of the ten men who once stood in his way with relative ease. Some household names on that list of ten were Davis, Antawn Jamison, Brad Daugherty, Sam Perkins, and Ford. This record had stood since 1978.
Next on the list for Hansbrough should be J.J. Redick's all-time ACC scoring record. Redick compiled 2769 career points. Hansbrough currently has 2301 points. If you figure the Tar Heels have 26 games left -- probably a conservative, if realistic, estimate considering their lofty expectations in the ACC and NCAA tourneys -- Hansbrough will have to average 18 points per game to tie Redick. He's currently averaging 22.8 a game this year and averaged 22.6 last year.
Looks like you, J.J., are next.

Since players with any kind of pro potential go pro well before senior year this isn't all that big of a deal. Wow, he's arguably better than J.J. Redick

what a prolific statement!! Yes alot of guys like Jamison and Carter and Stackhouse and Wallace went to the pros early...but that does not diminish Tyler's accomplishment...I think it is great that he stayed all 4 years and his reward for doing so is this and things to come this year. He could also be the 1st player in ACC history to be a 4 time all ACC player...when you leave early you cannot even attempt to achieve such things...good for Tyler...and Jesse, you might be a big 10 fan or maybe a Dukie!!!!!! JJ Reddick? hhahahahah Tyler is MUCH better than JJ

Tyler has displayed all that is good in college sports. As a Duke fan, I salute him and am thankful that it is his senior year.
What I don't care for is the JJ bashing that comes from the "shallow" end of the jealousy pool. He scored 2700+ points, won numerous player of the year awards and did not run over anyone's dog.
Oh by the way, JJ stayed all four years like Psycho T. Maybe they have more in common than they both were wearing blue!
