USC's Leonard Washington Ejected for Hitting Oklahoma's Blake Griffin in the Groin

Leonard Washington of USC committed the dirtiest play of the season so far when he ran down court in the second half of last night's game and hit Oklahoma's Blake Griffin square in the family jewels:

Washington, justifiably, was ejected, and he ought to be suspended. Cheap shots don't get much cheaper than hitting someone in the man region.

Amazingly, Washington claimed afterward that he hadn't done what we could all see him do.

From the Los Angeles Times:

"What do you think he said? 'I didn't do it,' " said Trojans Coach Tim Floyd, who didn't see the play happen live. "He's a freshman. He doesn't know that we film everything. But he's a good guy."

Uh, coach, I'm going to have to say I don't buy it when you call Washington "a good guy." Good guys don't hit other guys in the balls.

Worst of all, Washington's dirty play paid off: Griffin had to come out of the game briefly, and without their star, the Sooners struggled while USC went on a run. Fortunately, Griffin came back, scored 11 of his 25 points after the incident, and helped Oklahoma escape with a 73-72 win.

I see Washington throw his shoulder into the guy, but I can't see where he hits him in the groin. That looks like WWF-level acting to me. And he returned to the game pretty quick for somebody getting knocked down there.

adam, if you can't see where he hits him in the groin, you have no idea where the groin is located. just because the camera isn't panned down about 3 inches on you computer monitor doesn't mean the dude didn't purposely slam blake in the balls doesn't mean it didn't happen. could someone talk to adam about the birds and the bee's while we're here?...and talk to adam about jock/groin supporters. as a matter of fact, adam....just leave turn off your computer and go away. it's probably for the best.

You are an idiot if you think that was a hard shot to the groin. Adam was correct in saying it was WWE acting. If you think that was a hard shot, it is obvious that you have never scuffled in your entire life.

Stick to your guns Adam, it was unfortunate that an elbow was thrown, but it was a lot of acting also!

For all the girls watching this video please realize that it takes nothing at all to make a guy fall to his knees when being hit in the privates. I remember being hit by my 2yr old cousin in the nads and it took me down to the floor for about 2mins. Thank of a grown man doing it with what may be considered a "tap".... OUCH!

At first I did not see any contact with the players groin. After several viewings I could see the USC players left hand held low and in front of himself. At contact you can clearly see the victims shorts in the groin area ruffle inwards, i.e., he was struck in the groin. A legitimate foul by by a college athlete playing thug playground basketball. Sorry Coach, he is not a nice guy, he needs a few games on the bench!

Blake Griffin is a jerk! Deserved it! Seems to me he was being a drama queen on the floor. Well, he Griffin probably pissed of Washington anyway. Stuff happens!
