Western Kentucky spanked the No. 3 Louisville Cardinals, 68-54. This comes a week after the Hilltoppers were destroyed by Murray State.
Western Kentucky double-teamed freshman center Samardo Samuels to win their first game against a top-three team in over 40 years. The game was played in Nashville, but the Hilltopper fans filled the Sommet Center and turned into a sea of red. WKU's campus is just 45 minutes north of the arena.
Rick Pitino's Cardinals were just six-of-28 from behind the arc and just 28% from the field. With Samuels covered, Louisville started taking bad perimeter shots.
The Toppers' A.J. Slaughter led the way with 25 points, including a half-court heave that fell right before the half.
Yes, this is the same Western Kentucky who went to the Sweet 16 last year. However, All-Everything Courtney Lee and Tyrone Brazelton are no longer there.
