Washington State coach Tony Bennett denied on Saturday a Fox Sports report that he had been offered the Indiana head-coaching job, telling ESPN's Andy Katz that he has had no such conversations:With college coaches you sometimes have to parse words, and it's possible that when Bennett says he hasn't had one conversation, what he means is that his agent has been the one doing the talking. But it's also possible that the Fox Sports report was premature. Either way, Katz reports that Indiana wants to have its new coach in place by Thursday, so don't expect a long, drawn-out search.Reached Saturday morning in Pullman, Bennett told ESPN.com, "I haven't had one conversation with [Indiana] and so, no, I haven't been offered the job.''
Washington State athletic director Jim Sterk said Saturday morning that no school has asked for permission to talk to Bennett.

Tony Bennett was #1 on the Hoosiers wish list per the Indiana fan website, so let's go get him!! He is good, young, midwestern roots and fits Indiana's style with strong defense and team play. His sister was IU women's coach.
Let's keep those great Indiana high sschool players coming to Bloomington!
Dan Dakich is a great fellow and loyal Hoosier but not the answer at coach.

Whoever endorsed Dan Dakich and then later an Alford nod, does NOT represent what true IU fans need nor want. Neither of those candidates are the direction IU should go in. Dakich had his brief stint and could be brought back on as an assistant or Bask Ops position, but NOT HEAD COACH, NO FREAKING WAY. Alford's Big Ten records wasn't that hot and he is too divisive for IU fans.
The only logical choices come from the following: Tony Bennett, Sean Miller, Bruce Pearl, Tom Crean, Thad Matta, RIck Pitino, or Rick Barnes. Bennett is the guy, in my opinion.
Why Bennett: Put together the Wisc Final 4 team, good coaching pedigree (Dick Bennett), played in the NBA, sister coached at IU, midwest ties, young, energetic, good recruiter, won big at a non-traditional, and is unbranded as a coach and could carve his own path at IU for the long-term.
