Many people were a bit puzzled that the final dunk at the end of last night's UCLA-Texas A&M game counted. The final score was listed as 53-49 even though the dunk clearly came after the buzzer. If you don't know about it, go to the 1:31 mark of the video above.
Today, it has been changed to 51-49:
"Amidst the activity courtside, there was a misinterpretation of the signal," Hank Nichols, national coordinator of men's basketball officiating, said in a release Sunday. "But the ruling on the court was that the basket should not have counted, making the final score 51-49, not 53-49."
Sure, it doesn't mean anything in the long run -- UCLA won the game. The line as UCLA by 10, so betters aren't affected by the outcome. Still, it is quite disturbing that signals between the officials and the official scorer were misinterpreted like that.

I was watching the game and I saw the ref waive it off immediately. That's why I was so puzzled when watching all the sports shows they were showing the score as 53-49. They got THAT call right at least.

As long as the officials said that UCLA won the game, that's all I care about.
BUT....there are othere players on the team, and they had better start hitting the basket, and adding their points to the final score.
The free throws are very important...and, Shipp and Westbrook needs to make those THREE POINT shots go in the basket, and stay there.
As they go to the next bracket, the teams are getting better!

In the clip I watched, I heard no buzzer and in my opinion that basket should have counted. I could watch it a hundred times and can tell you that it is so close you can't deny it. Point spread what a joke. This is heart ball save your money for the men who are over paid to play a game.
GO HEELS!!!!!

Actually, bettors WERE affected.
The 2nd H line of the game was UCLA -7. Since they were down by 3 at half, they had to win by 4 to push the 2nd H bet, and win by 5 to win it.
That dunk pushed alot of bets that should have been won/lost.
