This play during Thursday's Florida State-Wake Forest game is causing a lot of controversy in ACC circles:
That was Florida State sophomore forward Ryan Reid knocking Wake Forest sophomore center Chas McFarland to the ground in the first half. Reid was ejected for it, and I know there are some Wake Forest fans who thought he should have been suspended, too.
But I don't know. It looked like McFarland was trying to grab Reid with his right hand to slow him down, and that Reid was trying to get McFarland off him. That doesn't justify what Reid did, but it does explain it. And anyway, McFarland is a tough guy who had the last laugh, leading the Deacons to victory with his first career double-double while Reid sat in the locker room.

What the heck are you saying. That a player should not be suspended for sucker-punching another player in the face because the other player was merely holding him? Of course he should be suspended. This is basketball, not MMA.

lets not forget reid's shinning resume' of cheap shots.
1) Reid's punching Duke's Paulus while he's ON THE GROUND for which he ONLY got a technical...but no ejection.
2) Reid "sucker punching" McFarland as clearly seen above.
3) Reid pulling UNC's Ty Lawson to the ground resulting in Lawson's ankle injury that has kept him from playing since that Florida State game. I think Reid's punishment should be suspension for the same number of games that Lawson is unable to play in...lets see so far that would be four games...(Duke, Clemson, Virginia and Virginia Tech)
He finally got only a one game suspension.
I'd also like to remind everyone that in a college hockey game if you punch someone you're suspended for at least one game. IN HOCKEY.
also...if you even get up from the bench during an NBA game you can get suspended. if an NBA player actually fights they can be suspended 10-30 days without pay.
the ACC needs to rethink it's fighing policy.
