Pope Will Finally Play

New Mexico State will finally have Herb Pope in the lineup, and hey, it only took three months into the college basketball season to get it done. The Aggies will finally have the prized lineup they thought they would have when they signed talented freshman Pope and Jahmar Young.

Pope will serve a one-game suspension for a DUI arrest he had back home in the Pittsburgh area. Pope served that suspension in New Mexico State's loss at Utah State on Saturday night. He is expected to make his first appearance against Louisiana Tech on Jan. 19. At this point, it seems almost too good to be real.

New Mexico State has to be considered the favorite in the WAC right now. NMSU has played two of its most dangerous conference games on the road already, with only a date at Nevada looming. There might be an adjustment period to get Pope back into the lineup, but teams that deal with injuries face this, so this shouldn't be a big adjustment.

Marvin Menzies is likely sleeping all the way through the night for the first time in a long time.
