Jeff Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, has turned down scholarship offers to Loyola and Valparaiso and will walk on at Illinois, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. Jordan is a 6-foot-2 guard who had nine points, two steals and one assist in the recent Brand Jordan All-American Classic high school all-star game. He's a decent player, but he wouldn't have been invited to that game if it weren't for his last name: There's a reason no Big Ten schools offered him a scholarship.
Still, as an Illinois alum I love this. It's good PR for the basketball team, which desperately needs some good PR right now. And it's a good sign that the Illini could land Jordan's younger son, sophomore Marcus, who is definitely good enough to earn a scholarship at a big-conference school. And don't feel bad about being a walk-on, Jeff. Your dad can afford the tuition.

There should be a law banning the use of the word "trick" as a noun for 31 year-old white guys.

Glover, I agree...being a 72 year old black women I have a feeling I really know what he means. Besides as vertically challenged as he might be,at his best,I'm sure he is no match for that young man.

If either of Jordan's kids could truly play basketball they would be enrolled at the University of North Carolina already. I don't think anyone in the Big Ten has anything to fear.

Maybe Jeff Jordan will have to apply for financial aid. With paying divorce settlements and partying in Cabo with young co-eds, his father may be a little short on cash right now. Maybe another comeback.

Almost impossible to be yourself in such a famous shadow...Hopefully people will let this kid be himself and grow as a person, player to what ever level he is and let it be... Life is long, being a great basketball player is not success as a person. With all his fame and his earned millions, championship rings, how much time with shooting commercials and golfing, did M.J., really spend with those kids over the years ? And, what discussions about his affairs and the divorce will the kids learn from and mold him, for his choices, outlook in life ?
