In the long tradition of web sites devoted to getting college coaches fired, some Kentucky fans registered the URL www.firebilly.com shortly after Billy Gillispie became the Wildcats' head coach. But they want to explain. They're actually supporters of Gillispie, and they registered the domain name to make sure some anti-Gillispie Kentucky fan couldn't:Seriously, we do not want to fire University of Kentucky men's basketball head coach Billy Gillispie.
So why is the name of the site firebilly.com, you ask? To keep it away from some crazy UK fans, we answer.
Sounds like a reasonable bunch of fans to me. Of course, if Gillispie ends up with a terrible record at Kentucky, they might change their tune, in which case they'll be glad they already have the site set up.

Do some research before you write an article. That domain name was registered a few weeks ago, Gillispie has only been UK coach for 2 days.

To Rickydmc....cut out the racial crap. Tubby left of his own accord and even though he felt he wasn't wanted anymore this was 10 years after he was hired. 7 years too many, IMO. If that had been Billy G or any other white coach who kept setting records in the negative, i.e. worse shooting since 1940 something, first time ranked as 8 going into NCAA, etc. then they would have ben gone a long time ago. I don't care if Tubby was white, black, purple, orange or green....the KY people were tired of his slow tempo, boring style of play. So give everyone a break and quit your "he's gone because a brother" speech because that excuse (of being black) is getting old. Very, very old.

How dare you pull the race card in regards to FireTubby The man could not recruit for anything and at of all places Kentucky. He couched Pitinos recruits to the championship but He hasnt done nothing since. Any coach that loses at Kentucky gets pushed out. Lets hope Billy gillespie doesnt reach the same fate. I have alot of faith in him.
if you want to pull the age old lie that Rupp was a Racist. sorry but tell you but Rupp had a hard time getting blacks to play deep in the south which is where all of the games were. Kentucky was deeply hated and had several tense confrontations when they were just white guys could you imagine the stress it would have put on The first Black Wildcats player deep in Alabama after a Alabama lose to Kentucky. The only reason Wes Unseld went to louisville was because they played more games up north due to there conference. So you want to pull the race card but its not factual or historically accurate. You want to call prejudice but your prejudice towards history to as far as to rewrite it to fit your own needs. Grow up and stop blaming your own failures on peoples racism. In today your shortcomings cause you to fail not because of some presumed prejudice

Do you really think Barnhart has the time to read these blogs? plus dont you think he gets enough of you hillbillies as it is without having to explain his actions. Boy MCS, you have just solitified the impression that the rest of the country has about you guys, a bunch of dumb and naive rednecks.

Hey Mitch, if you take anything on these blogs seriously you're the one who's living in fantasy land. I'm not from Kentucky but you probably are. Of course the real Mitch Barnhart doesn't read your garbage and if he did he would never post a response of that nature. You obviously have control of this blog because you responded to my comment before it posted. Judging by the opinions you have posted, you're the redneck, wherever you're from. LOL !!! Why didn't I receive a password in my email?

Thanks, MDS, for the plug!
For the record, we bought FireBilly.com a few weeks ago. We were hedging our bets since there were two Billy's that might come to UK. We also had some "inside information" that the Donovan deal was done. After Donovan announced he wasn't interested last Thursday, I provided our informant a swift kick in the buttocks. But hey, it all worked out in the end.
And yeah, we're the same folks who blogged at FireTubby.com, which was also a pro-UK and pro-coach site.

Racial comments are the last recourse so many people seem to have left in their arsenal of critical comments. Gillispie had better do la lot motr than just ok to keep his job at UK and he knows that. The 5 or 6 elite programs in the country are coached by white men. Duke, Michigan St, Kansas, UCLA, North Carolina, Kentucky all come to mind when speaking of elite programs but I don`t see or hear any negative publicity until it comes to UK. I grew up in Kentucky and knem then Rupp was a jerk but all he did was win. His 1st black recruit, Thomas Payne was arrested and sent to prison for rape. The 1st rape committed by a Rupp player. Would that make him a bit gunshy of recruiting other blacks. In that day and age, probably. But from Joe B. Hall untill now Ky has recruited as many blacks as any other team unless you want to include "predominately" black schools who play by a different set of rules and blinders are put om the remaining college basketball world. I can`t think of ANY coach who would not recruit and play a young man who gave that particular its best chance to win. So, how bout we get off the back of "Hill-billy" mentally. The last UK championship im 1998 started 4 out of five black players. Dis you hear any complaining and who the starting players were, I can take a guess and that color would be "Kentucky Blue". Thanks for the time and space. I now live in Florida who for the last 2 years has produced 2 national champions with only 1 white starter. They must be racist also. Joe

First of all, not that I feel a sense of loyalty to you bunch of retards or justifying any if the decisions that I make in regards to the athletics department at the U of K, but my decision to hire Billy was due in part to the fact that the real "Billy" did not want the job. Granted, I never officially made an offer, but he had stated in a call to myself that if such an offer were to be made, that he would have to decline. Barnes had also made a statement that he was not interested in the position as well, so what other choice did I have ?? You, fans were the ones screaming for Tubby's head in the first place, then when we were publicly humiliated by having him leave rather than us firing him, we were further embarrased by having our first 2 choices decline any future offer before we even had a chance to make an official offer.
I am really confused by the mixed signals that are received by you, on one hand you want a coach in place, and when I do you post a site calling for his firing before he has had a chance to even coach a single game.
Most of you really need to get a life and get out of your trailer parks every once in a while and quit trying to make up for your lifes failures thru the U of K athletics programs.
