Michael Beasley did not decide to attend Kansas State because he was excited about spending time in the thriving metropolis of Manhattan, Kansas. He decided to attend Kansas State because Bob Huggins is, somehow, an amazing recruiter. With Huggins gone now, what happens to Beasley?Well, according to K-State Athletic Director Tim Weiser, nothing happens to Michael Beasley, and Michael Beasley will damn well like it. From NBADraft.net, Beasley signed a letter of intent at Kansas State, and they don't seem real eager to let him out of it.
"Our policy as a department is that we don't grant releases. We invest a lot in recruitment, training, scholarshiping and boarding of our student athletes, and for us to grant releases is something that we would have to be convinced is in the best interest of both the university and the student athlete."I'm thinking that some kind of a "I refuse to play for Kansas State, so let me go," letter might do the trick. I understand that Kansas State's upset about Huggins leaving, but it would be pretty spiteful and petty to not let an 18-year-old play where he wanted to play next year.
As for Beasley, would he want to leave? Well, he's not ruling it out. Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline tracked him down and asked him.
"As of now I'm still signed with Kansas State," Beasley said. "But I don't know what the future holds."So what's the big deal about Michael Beasley?
"It's his hometown and I'm pretty sure he loves the town and loves the area. It's a little bit of a shock for me. But life is a shock."
Asked if he wanted to follow Huggins, Beasley replied, "No comment." He added he had yet to speak with Huggins, but said "If my phone rings I'll answer it."
That's the big deal about Michael Beasley.

Good Riddens Bob.. Glad to see you leave the Big 12. I cant figure out why everyone builds Bob Huggins up so much he has 1 final 4 appearance in his career. Huggins has been locked up more for being a silly drunk than he has spent coaching in the final 4. I guess thats why its easy for Huggins to recruit thugs like he has year in and year out. Yo Bob whats your graduation rate as a head coach? The Hill Jacks probably wont care about graduation rates but then again many of your recruits will be making license plates for a living after they stop dribbling a basketball.
So if Beasley is waiting for the call, he shouldn't get one because it is now against the rules for a coach to talk to a player that has signed with another school. NCAA violation number one of many during Hug's stay in Morgantown.
Get his ass to Pittsburgh, Jamie.
"The Hill Jacks probably wont care about graduation rates but then again many of your recruits will be making license plates for a living after they stop dribbling a basketball."
That is a classy comment.
Before you go bashing us...and our thought on education, learn to spell.
"Good Riddens"... it's "riddance" numb nuts.
Oh, this is classic.
A Kansas farm-boy talking smack to... let me get this correct.... a "hill-jack"?? Pull the corn cob out of your a$$, and wash the cow manure out of your ears before you enter the chat rooms. Like the rest of the country, you fall into this pre-conceived notion that all of the residents of West Virginia are shamefully engaged in incest with six members of their immediate family, and can't seem to move beyond a third grade eduaction. You're understandably bitter about loosing your coach - a coach you were all way too happy to bring in to revive a dead (not dying) program. In one year, he produced for you - gave you a taste of what your Jayhawk bretheren have been swallowing for years. WVU did what they had to when Beilein bolted - they found a native son to come back, move the program higher, and provide stability. He can recruit, he can motivate and he wanted to be home. Come on folks - the guy was born in Morgantown; he is an alumnus of the institutuion; is this really a surprise for you? If it is, then you are even more backward and ridiculous than the good folks in WV you are bashing. West Virginian's are a very proud and loyal breed, very self-reliant, and we don't ask for much from the citizens of the other 49. We hope that each of you are lucky enough to visit and find out first-hand what the place and her people are REALLY like. Each and every time you turn on the lights at 4:00 in the morning to start your farm chores; or every time someone buys an overpriced cup of coffee; or does a stock trade; or performs a life-saving surgery; or whatever your day consists of - please remember that more often than not, it was an honest, hard-working West Virginian who selflessly went down into the deep cavern of a damp, dark cramped coal mine, breathed black dust into his lungs, and never complained once to provide you with the electricity to go about your day in comfort and style. And when our football or basketball team (or both in this case) is better than your's, have the ability to recognize and keep comments limited to the sports arena, instead of trying to jump on the "WV is a backward blemish on our country" bandwagon. It's just old and been tried way too many times. And, for you bitter KSU fans who still can't get over it .... you've just been Pittsnogled!
he can't go to pitt cuz pitt used up all their scholarships
Anyways to correct the first post...Beasley came to K-State not because of K-State. Actually it had more to do with Dalonte Hill his AAU coach...same for Dominique Sutton, and guess what Dalonte Hill is now the Assoc. Head coach at KSU! Most likely he, and his mother states, is staying at KSU! So everyone quite droolng over the possibility to steal Beasley it most likely wont happen...oh, and about the ignorant mountain man who couldn't spell in the midst of his calling out K-Staters for their education (top in Rhodes, and Marshall scholars in the nation...By the way those are the hardest scholarship offered...and top 50 in education), obviously you didn't realize K-State is the 22nd all time basketball program in history...yes it has been down...but don't think out, especially right now...umm #1 recruiting class in the natione WITHOUT Huggins!!
I meant Huggins in the very first sentence...but even I'll admit it wasn't K-State that got him here, nor Huggins...Dalonte Hill....and oh yeah I spotted my e on the end of nation so do't bother pointing it out...oh yeah KSU and Kansas isn't just farms...really not a whole lot in East Kansas at all...think about Wichita, Kansas City, Topeka, Lawrence, Manhattan, Salina (kind of)...just to name a few...as for Western Kansas thank God we still may have natural foods made on the farm versus lab created cancer inducing agents to preserve and manifest foods...but don't think of that
lets all give frank a chance to coach like we gave BOB prince a chance
"he'll be good we still have are recruits its goin to be a great year
