Memphis coach John Calipari's season ended Saturday, but there's one off-season activity he says he won't be taking part in: Interviewing for other jobs. After his team's loss to Ohio State, Calipari said he had "no interest" in going anywhere else. "Truth be told, there are probably better jobs than Memphis," Calipari said. "But there may not be a better team than the one I'm going to have for the next couple of years. You don't leave that."
If I were a Memphis fan (or the athletic director), I wouldn't be real wild about hearing Calipari say "there are probably better jobs than Memphis," but give him points for honesty: His point is that Kentucky, in the abstract, is a better place than Memphis for a basketball coach who wants to win a national title, but that in this specific time, Memphis is better: Calipari has his entire starting five coming back next year, and he has a great recruiting class coming in as well.
Calipari is one of the top-drawer names associated with the Kentucky job, and if Calipari is telling the truth when he says he won't go there, that's got to be disappointing to Kentucky fans: Calipari is a proven winner who would be great for Kentucky.

Now, this doesn't sound familiar at all, does it?
saban part deux. money talks.
Kentucky does not need another Yankee BMOC.Calipari could'nt change Tubbys diaper without getting some on him.........
Tubby great man, excellent coach---Honor, integrity, loyalty, high graduation rates. UK-state university for inbred (culturally) racist Neantherdals. No self respecting person of color should ever play for UK again. R. Morris -great move. Meeks, Jasper-transfer now!!!!Bradley, Crawford declare for the draft. New recruits sue to get out of any commitments.
Typical knee-jerk racist posing as a non-racist.
Face it, bud. Tubby was not a winner the last few years. Everybody but the LY women's team was getting a piece of the once feared 'Cats, or looking like they could do that.
You are another twit who, when a minority in a position screws up, performs below acceptable standards, or just simply is not good enough...
wants to holler "racism."
Bull Crap to ya.
He pissed on his own foot with his record. He would have been kept until hell froze, had he turned out winning teams these past few years---winning in the NCAA, that is.
You see, if a white guy had turned the record out that Tubby had turned out these last few years...
the white guy would have been canned already---canned, not allowed to resign and take a job elsewhere.
Minority people should be subject to ALL the rules as the majority---and have ALL the same opportunities.
Failure is failure. People who are charged with making sure that failure is not a long-running condition, are NOT necessarily racists, when they can the guy/gal who delivered the less-than-satisfactory performance.
You need to grow up.
One more thing...
he made more money than almost every white coach in America as he under-delivered the goods.
That is not racism. That is the kid glove treatment.
So screw off.
He would not fit in the SEC. He only coaches teams in weak conferences where he can wildly inflate his win total with weak schedules(UMASS and Memphis). He will stay at Memphis until they join a real conference or they run out of talent. At that point he will jump to his next team, or who knows, maybe back to the NBA to drive another team into the ground?
GLAD TO FIND THIS NEW BLOGGING PAGE
Wtf are you talking about? I have to admit C-USA is not exactly the toughest conference out there, but it is not the tigers fault they are in it. It doesn't matter anyways. Even though they didn't make it to the final four, they did get to the elite 8 now didn't they. You can't say that about Duke or Kentucky who play in better conferences now can you.
JC left a trail of recruiting violations and destruction at UMASS. Let him stay at Memphis and not screw up another program such as Kentucky.
Why wouldn't Cal stay at Memphis? His team that he will have next year will probably be pre-season #1. I agree with tigerfan07...Memphis might not be in a great conference but they sure did make it farther that a lot of other teams in better conferences. Don't get me wrong, I would love it if memphis could get into a power conference, but for right now, they have everything going for them. If Cal keeps getting great talent (which he will), Memphis will win the conference and be in the big dance every year with, more than likely, a high seed. How could you leave that?
hmmmmmmmmmm seems to me I heard the same thing when he was at UMASS.Then camby walks in with a 25k chain and hes gone??????????????????
TUBBY WHO?????
I am in total agreement with #4-Rickymdc.
Kentucky basketball is a thing of the past.
It is pleasing to see a program(Minnasota)that will appreciate a great coach that'S a 20+ game winner every year with honesty and integrity.
In response to the idiot #5 aka somewhatdazed.
Kentucky's unrealistic expectations of a final 4- every year is a idiotic fan base.
I think UK will find that all quality coaches like Donavan & Calipari have no great interest in trying to please the inbred morons of UK.
Please be advised that UCLA is the greatest BBALL program in the nation, with coach Wooden the gratest coach of all times.
Who needs that clown anyway? He can stay in conference USA. He can rule that for sure. Wright is going to be UK's next coach and would be worth the money. And as far as the racism issue brought about by the other clown in this blog. Must be a Florida fan or player who knows first hand about inbreeding within.
It not all about what conference you are in, it all about pride (Tiger Pride). I would not think that a team in conference USA laid down when they visited Memphis at the FedEx Forum and I do believe that every team Memphis played did have a sell-out crowd whenever Memphis visited their arenas and I do not think they laid down there either. So, is there a fool out there that would leave a good, I mean gooooood (THANG) for some other (THANG) please comment on it. But in 08, 09 and on, all you will see is (Tiger blue) in all your faces, and do not be afraid to come to Memphis and purchase some ticket if you can. If not, you can watch the game at a pub down town.
