I went to the game on friday night.. i am 47 years old and I am here to say Mayo was the best I have ever seen.. He was no ball hog and played team ball. He made the others shine. I really went to see Patterson play. I had seen him play as a freshman and wanted to see him as a senior. He was awesome . The whole team plays team ball. It was just nice to see a good team playing team ball, no ball hogs...

I was at the game and saw the dunk and the crowd went wild. This is why over 10,000 people attended the game to see the dunks. And also what a way for him to end his HS career. It was one of the best games I have been to and that includes the NBA and College basketball. Mayo,Patrick Patterson and the rest of the team are all great kids and they all signed autographs and posed for pictures after the game.

Yep, he went out like a tru balla. And a d-bag with no class. To me, he's saying he's above the game, above the officials, and that he's too good for everyone. He'll learn eventually that he's not. Being good at basketball < being good at LIFE.

yeah it was a bit of showing off but really if u think about it if anyone of you who are commenting were as good as him u would be the same way. The kid has people in his ear all the time let the kid be a kid show emotion that is what wrong with the game today the players in the league for grt the game and worry about the money . The act OJ committed while it was over the top it was still a kid showing emotion and having fun not a kid thats all about the money give him credit for that because when he gets to the league he may be forced to change.

I'm sorry, but there is no justification for his actions. NONE! If this had been a close game that he won in the last seconds of the game, then maybe. MAYBE. However, this was a blowout. Anything other than just dribbling out the last few seconds is a lack of sportsmanship.
I would aspect children to think that this type of action is okay. But, a mature adult would know better. I don't completely blame Mayo, because he is yet a child, but I hope that at some point his parents and coaches pointed out that he should be more gracious in victory.

What a complete douchebag. And most of these comments are ridiculous. "Let the kid show some emotion"? You can do that without throwing the ball into the stands, then parading around the court afterwards. The head coach of that high school team is a puppet for this kid.

I think it was a great way to end it. That kid probably felt more emotions in THAT MOMENT than most have felt in their entire lives. You don't get too many chances at that. I don't think it was that big of a deal, and neither did the crowd. You can only play your last high school game once, and I wouldn't expect a youngster to be able to contain himself at the least, yet all he did was throw the ball, thank the fans, and hug his teammates and coaches. IF anyone DID NOT get chills watching that clip (especially with the music) you've never played sports in your life.
