Some Good Old-Fashioned Big East Basketball

This would be about the only way Georgetown and Boston College will be meeting for the foreseeable future. A mere coincidence that they meet in the second round.

It was exactly what you would expect. Low scoring, physical, players getting in each others faces and coaches happy to see that.
After the Hoyas had rallied to take a 48-46 lead, Dudley and Sapp got tangled up battling for a rebound with about six minutes left.

"I'm undersized and a lot of guys down there might be stronger, so I'm grabbing and I might push," Dudley said. "But I'm getting pushed, too. (Sapp) didn't like it and he said a few words. I didn't walk away."

It was the attitude BC coach Al Skinner thought the Eagles had to have to pull the upset.

"I don't want him to walk away. That's not how you're going to handle yourself," Skinner said. "It's up to the officials to control it."

And the officials did by calling technical fouls on the players. The problem for BC was that Georgetown took over the game and really went inside where the Eagles are lacking. The defense for both teams was excellent, but someone still has to score to win. That favored Georgetown.

Boston College had Jared Dudley and Tyrese Rice scoring -- and no one else. Sean Marshall and Tyrelle Blair added 14 points combined (6-21) and 3 other players had 0 points (0-6).

Georgetown had 3 players get into double digits and 3 others who provided some offense. The Hoyas also dominated the inside for rebounds. Both Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green had double-doubles.

The Hoyas will get Vanderbilt in the Sweet 16.
