NFL Adam, who is hanging out in Vegas this weekend rather than covering the Mid-Majors for you at the FanHouse, brings this juicy, insider tidbit.Looks like a lot of locals were betting against the Rebels. Adam tells me that despite UNLV getting a first-round 67-63 win over a scary No. 10 Georgia Tech, most people left upset (and probably with lighter pockets) after the home team got the win. Didn't realize that the Yellow Jackets were that clear of a bet. Or maybe Las Vegas residents are still pissed at Tark for the trouble the Rebels were in way back.
Michael Umeh and Wendell White both had 19 for the Runnin' Rebels, who won their first tourney game in 16 years. Anthony Morrow had 11 for the Jackets.
If Texas A&M CC pulls the huge upset over Wisconsin, also in the Midwest, you can bet that sports gamblers will be putting their money on UNLV to go to the Sweet 16.

What kind of writer usess words such as "pisses" in a headline or an article. Is there no standard at all for decency? Goodness, we are not far away from chaos as a society when the press shows itself to be not only classless but uneducated to the point of not being able communicate without use of such inappropriate language.
you serious?
Randy, must be a BYU fan or alum.
Wendell White looked hurt at game's end. Any word on his status for Saturday?
Egads! An informal blog uses a..what..PG-rated term?
Randy..decency is not threatened. At least not here - you should have read me on my yahoo page talking about hate groups. THAT was harsh language. Seriously..I mean, I almost went PG-13 on some people.
Sorry Zach you are off base.Las Vegas is agog with joy after UNLV's win today. This team is a cohesive unit that works hard and is like their coach. Kruger is a class act and we are sure as hell we have him. Go Rebels on Sunday!!
thanks for the insight, mike.
NFL Adam, who usually covers UNLV, called me from Vegas and said it was pro GT. probably just wherever he was though.
good win and thanks for the comment.
What book was this dude hanging at? Book directors told me the majority of late action was on UNLV. The line dropped from GTech -2 to -1.5 at several books.
Bro, talk to some experts on this rather judge the betting trend off of some peeved bettors.
OK, I'm a GT fan and this article was pretty funny. This article had nothing to do with a good game. Yes, my boys lost; however, I feel GT only lost for one reason! We were out coached! Kruger is a great coach and the Rebel's are lucky to have him. GT has three kick butt (rated PG) freshmen .. wait tell next year!
locals don't place bets like the hurds of newswriters do. Who is really "pissed off"? hmmm?
