I got a little bit nervous for the male cheerleaders lifting Pat up to the top of the mini-pyramid there. Had she gone up any higher, someone was getting an upskirt shot. And you just wouldn't recover from something like that.
Honestly, though, it's hard to make fun of this. If you're a Tennessee student, it was probably a hell of a lot of fun to witness that. Cliche or not, it is school spirit, it is part of what makes college athletics great, and plus, for maybe the first time in his life, Peyton Manning was probably not the goofiest white person in the room.
The only thing at all aggravating about it was Dick Vitale, forcing out the staggered chuckles and the "Ohhh!"s like he was being held at knifepoint and forced to do it. I try to be nice to Vitale, but ... it's like he was trying his best to ruin that.

Phish's version is much better. Jon Fishman looks better in a dress as well.

I heard a rumor that UConn coach Geno Auriemma will dress up as a cheerleader for Jim Calhoun's mens hoops team bubble run this week.

That was fantastic. I hope when I'm 54 I've still got it like that.

My alarm clock is set to the local sports radio station, and the alarm went off just as they were replaying Pat Summit's rendition of Rocky Top.
Man, that is NOT how you want to start your day.

Can't say much for her singing, but you have to admire her spirit. It gave life to all that were there, myself included. GO VOLS!!

This isn't first time I witinessed Pat Head Summitt doing something the rest of the world thinks out of character for her. She is a wonder person to be around. She has a great sense of humor. She is a great Mom too. She hosts her team regularly at her home for dinners and other activities. She cares about her athletes graduating from school and actively helps them do so even after their playing days are over. Pat is not only a great coach, she is just a great person.

I agree with the sentiments here. I don't get why people have been making fun of Pearl or Summitt. This, to me, was a lot more enjoyable to watch than say NBA fans shooting up Las Vegas.

Pat Summitt's thighs?? I thought I was watching Iraq war coverage. That wasn't the Tigris and Euphrates running up those white sandy plains leading to the war zone?
In all seriousness, I think it's great that the men's and women's hoops teams have each other's back like that. I mean, Tennessee is in a weird position where the women's team is much more revered than the men's. I mean, where else does that happen? It was also great to see football coach Phil Fulmer there as well as UT icon Peyton Manning.
